YLDP

The Young Leadership Development Programme is a component of the Leadership Development Support Programme initiative of the Youth Agenda that was started in 2001. Its mandate is to nurture leadership potential through trainings for capacity building and creating linkages among young people to be able to contribute significantly in building a culture of democratic leadership, entrenching the practice of good governance, rule of law and constitutionalism. Equipped with experienced academics and practitioners the program trainings have focused on essential skills on organizational development, conflict management, gender concepts, resource mobilization, leadership skills, personal empowerment, principles and values of democracy, among others.

Over the years Youth Agenda has successfully undertaken five intakes building a massive network of 960 graduates from seven key sectors of the economy that is Trade Union, Student Leaders, Young Professionals, and Community Leaders, Young Women, Civil Society, Political Leaders.

The alumni of this programme are to be found in leadership roles both in Kenya and outside Kenya, in international organisations, government departments, the private sector and the local authorities.

A Constitution for the Youth
Young people have been at the forefront in steeringthe constitution process- from mass action in the mind 1990's to Bomas, through Kilifi to Naivasha, back to Delta House and finally overwhelmingly campaigning and voting for the new constitution in the referendum.
